Privacy Policy

Effective: July 25, 2026 Last updated: July 25, 2026 App ID: barcode.qrcode.reader.scanner

This Privacy Policy explains how Wewin (“we”, “us”, “our”) handles information in connection with the QRCode Scanner mobile application (the “App”). We built the App to do its job — scanning and creating codes — while keeping the content you scan on your device.

The short version

The codes you scan, your history, and your business-card details stay on your device and are not uploaded by us. The camera is used only to read codes. To keep the App free and reliable, upcoming versions use Google services for advertising (AdMob) and analytics & crash reporting (Firebase), which collect limited device and usage data as described below.

01 Overview

QRCode Scanner is a QR and barcode scanner and generator for Android. This policy applies to the App distributed under the application ID barcode.qrcode.reader.scanner. It does not apply to third-party websites, apps, or networks you may reach by scanning a code.

By downloading or using the App, you agree to this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the App.

02 Data you create and store on your device

The following information is created by you and stored locally on your device (in the App’s private storage). We do not have access to it and it is not transmitted to our servers — we do not operate servers that receive it:

  • Scan & creation history — the content, format, and timestamp of codes you scan or generate, including any items you star as favorites.
  • Business-card profile — the name, company, job title, phone, email, website, address, and notes you optionally enter to generate your personal contact QR code.
  • App settings — your preferences, such as enabled symbologies, theme, and scan behavior.

This data remains on the device until you delete individual records, clear the App’s data, or uninstall the App. If your device has Android backup enabled, this local data may be included in your own Google account backup, governed by Google’s policies rather than ours.

03 Camera & photos

The App requests camera access to scan codes in real time. Camera frames are processed on the device to detect codes and are not stored or transmitted by us. You may also decode a code from an existing image you pick from your gallery; that image is processed on the device for decoding only.

Images you explicitly choose to save or share (for example, exporting a generated code) are handled by your device’s storage and the app you share to, according to your action.

04 Information collected automatically

Some information is collected automatically by third-party software development kits (SDKs) bundled in the App. Depending on the App version and your consent, this may include:

SourceExamples of dataPurpose
Google ML Kit (barcode scanning)Anonymous usage and diagnostic statistics (e.g., API calls, performance). Not the contents of the codes you scan.To provide and improve on-device scanning.
Google AdMob (advertising)Advertising ID, device information, approximate location (from IP), ad interactions. To display ads and measure their performance.
Google Firebase (analytics & crash reporting)App events and usage, device/OS information, an app-instance identifier, crash logs and diagnostics. To understand usage and fix stability issues.
Note on advertising & analytics

Google AdMob and Firebase are being integrated into the App and are described here so this policy stays accurate once they are enabled. If you are using a version of the App that does not yet include these services, the data described in sections 5 and 6 is not collected. The App’s Google Play data-safety information is kept in sync with each release.

05 Advertising (Google AdMob)

The App uses (or will use) Google AdMob to show advertisements. AdMob may collect and process your device’s advertising identifier, IP-based approximate location, device and network information, and data about how you interact with ads. This may be used to show personalized or non-personalized ads and to measure and prevent fraud.

Where required by law (for example, in the European Economic Area, the UK, and Switzerland), the App presents a consent request through a Google-certified consent management platform before serving personalized ads. You can change or withdraw your choice at any time from within the App’s settings where available.

To learn how Google uses this data, see “How Google uses information from sites or apps that use our services.”

06 Analytics & crash reporting (Google Firebase)

The App uses (or will use) Google Firebase — including Google Analytics for Firebase and Firebase Crashlytics — to understand how features are used and to detect and fix crashes. These services collect aggregated usage events, device and operating-system information, a resettable app-instance identifier, and, in the event of a crash, diagnostic information such as stack traces and device state at the time of the crash.

This information is used to improve the App’s reliability and experience. It is not used by us to identify you personally. For details, see the Firebase Privacy and Security documentation.

07 How we use information

  • To provide the App’s core features — scanning, decoding, generating, and storing codes on your device.
  • To display and measure advertising that helps keep the App free.
  • To analyze usage trends and improve features and performance.
  • To diagnose crashes and maintain stability and security.
  • To comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms of Use.

Legal bases (EEA/UK). Where the GDPR or UK GDPR applies, we rely on: your consent (for personalized advertising); our legitimate interests (for analytics, crash reporting, security, and non-personalized ads); and performance of a contract (to provide the App you requested).

08 Sharing & disclosure

We do not sell your personal information. We do not upload the contents of your scans or your business-card details to our own servers. Information may be processed by the third-party service providers named above (Google) acting on our behalf, and may be disclosed if required by law, regulation, legal process, or to protect the rights, safety, and security of users and the public.

09 Third-party services & links

The App integrates the following third-party services, each governed by its own privacy policy:

When you scan a code, the App may offer to open a link, connect to a Wi-Fi network, start an email or message, add a contact, or perform a similar action. Any website, network, or service you reach in this way is operated by a third party and governed by its own terms and privacy policy, not this one. Please exercise caution with content from codes you do not trust.

10 Your choices & rights

Advertising controls

  • Reset or delete your advertising ID: Android Settings → Privacy → Ads (wording varies by device).
  • Personalized ads: where a consent prompt is shown, you may decline or later change your choice; you may still see non-personalized ads.

Your local data

  • Delete individual records or clear all unstarred history from within the App.
  • Clear the App’s storage or uninstall the App to remove all locally stored data from your device.

Statutory rights

Depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR or the California CCPA/CPRA), you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or restrict the processing of your personal information, and to object to certain processing. Because scan content and profile data are stored only on your device, you can exercise most of these rights directly by managing or deleting data in the App. For data processed by the services above, you may also contact us using the details in section 17.

11 Data retention

Data stored on your device is retained until you delete it or uninstall the App. Data processed by Google (advertising, analytics, crash reporting) is retained according to Google’s own retention policies.

12 Security

Your locally stored data resides in the App’s private storage area, which other apps cannot access under normal Android conditions. We use reasonable measures to protect information, but no method of storage or transmission is completely secure. Keeping your device’s operating system and screen lock up to date helps protect your data.

13 Children’s privacy

The App is a general-audience utility and is not directed to children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information, please contact us so we can address it.

14 International data transfers

The third-party services above are operated by Google and may process data on servers located in countries other than yours, including the United States. Where required, such transfers are governed by appropriate safeguards under the relevant service provider’s terms.

15 Permissions the App uses

  • Camera — to scan codes in real time. Optional; you can still decode codes from saved images.
  • Vibrate — to provide haptic feedback on a successful scan.
  • Advertising ID — declared when AdMob is enabled, to support advertising as described in section 5.

16 Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time — for example, when we enable a new service or to reflect legal changes. We will revise the “Last updated” date above and, for material changes, provide a more prominent notice within the App or on this page. Your continued use of the App after an update means you accept the revised policy.
